OTD: Animal Insticnt

Who said you can’t pair pastel and prints together? It’s all about letting loose and letting your animal instinct take over! What a coincidence our new puppy decided to make his debut appearance! ;)

Caffeine and Chaos

How chaotic will the world be without caffeine (and nicotene). Not that I’m an advocate for either, its just that my life has been topsy turvy nowadays and without both I bet there’d be “accidental” deaths wherever I tread. Most people assume that staying at home is less stressful than being part of the workforce, but between 2 dogs, a house, preparing meals, laundry and oh “marital bliss”, it definitely is hardwork. Did you notice any “me-time” from the above list? So here’s to caffeine and all its glories; may they find new and better ways to shake you up and ice you down for those of us in need.

Out & About: Shopping for our new home

So as most of you know, a month and a half ago my husband and I decided to get our own place. We wanted a minimalist setting but ended up with an apartment that looked bare and unwelcoming, so we desiced to go to Dragonmart to shop for things to liven up the house a bit. Let me tell you this: gone are the days when Dragonmart is the place to go to for bargains! Everything is for rent! Baby trolly, trollies, helping hands, parking spots etc.

OTD: Movie in MOE

Since it was payday a few days ago (yay!) the hubby and I decided to go to MOE for a movie; The Hunger Games. May I just say the movie was phenomenal. Although I must admit the movie lacked a lot of details and focus, the whole concept of facing an inevitable situation head on, being backed into a corner but still managing to hold your head up high, really struck a chord with me. Funny how all the good movies are adapted from books, guess we have to wait for the sequels now.

Chanel-esque non?

Kimo’s first walk

So we recently welcomed a new member to our small family and are extremely overjoyed that he seemed to be warming up to us already. It was war taking him out for a walk but this day was the day he understood that no matter how far away he went he’d always come home.

Outfit of the day: Outta My System

Finally tried the rooftop garden for a photoshoot and finally succeeded in bribing the dearest hubby of mine to play photographer of the day. Not quite there yet but I hope for more BETTER pictures to come! <3

Full Skirts: Yay and Nay

Flared short skirts are all the rage nowadays, and although the “Skinny Species” have all the advantage with the capability to get away with almost any sort clothing, the “Fuller Figure Nation” can, with the right precautions taken, wear them with grace just as well.

The technique is to wear a slightly flared loose top so as to hide the bulge that might result from the belly getting in contact with the waistband and a fitted blazer to somewhat pull in  the look together adding the much needed structured element to the whole outfit. Fuller figured gals should steer clear from tucking the tops into the skirts or wearing tight fitting shirts. Also, adding a towering pair of heels beautifully elongates the legs balancing out the whole look.

How NOT to wear a flared skirt:

Fashion Fix: Pink & Frilly? Yes please!

For those like me, no matter our gender and our acceptance of it (uh huh!) we can never be forced to go girly! So I thought to myself why not seek a challenge of making a really REALLY feminine dress work for me 3 ways? I saw this dress on Fashlink and I thought it’d be the perfect candidate for my experiment. I like the results though!

Work Wear

I mixed in lots of black with a touch of earthy tones to make the pop of pink not so sickly sweet. And of course, I couldn’t resist some snakeskin!

Lunch Date

I picked a pop of blue for the shoes because I love playing with 3 colours when I dress up. 2 are just so ordinary! You will see that there’s a fluidity among the items (ok well I HOPE you see the fluidity lol) with the gold going into the pink and the black going into the gold etc.

Date Night

So I finally let the dress do its job. Fun, frilly, flirty. I added some not-so-loud gold accessories and instead of the usual strappy romantic heel I had to go for the statement bootie instead!

So all these fabulous items can be found on Fashlink and they’re all highstreet brands (because not all of us are born financially endowed). Hope you guys had fun!

Fashionista Cafe & Restaurant

So the other night my bestfriend and her boys took me to this newly opened shisha place on Jumeirah Road, just beside the Ed Hardy shop. We actually decided to pay it a visit since our Maitre’d in Casa (another shisha place that is already literally our house lol) moved to the new cafe. The place is just astounding! Although they were going for an adrogynous colour, ie. purple, it comes across more feminine than expected, what more with the fashion inspired theme of the whole place! Complete with pink and purple shisha’s, what makes this place different is that there are a number of fashionalble items on display that are actually on sale, handcrafted by local designers! I just think that its a fab FAB concept! Anyway, here are some pictures to help describe my experience!

Loving even the bathroom decor! How very chic!

What did I say about the mirror? Abundance!

Grand or glam?

And again another mirror. Nope its not the same one as the last time.

Pink, black and leather-bound.

She’s the best! Ask for Ruby whenever you come over and she’ll take good care of you!

Some of the items on sale! Love the fact there’s an evening gown for sale!

This usually indicates a really good time being had! :)

In and Out

Such an inconspicuous title I know! (tee hee). Just wanted to drop in and say that I apologize for being MIA for the longest time! My husband and I just moved out and into our own place in the very near-to-everything (not) Jumeirah Village Circle. I’m over the moon but honestly, only now do I truly appreciate Satwa. Although I’ve always been embarrassed when jotting down my address while filling up forms, only now do I truly appreciate the beauty of Satwa. In between old and new Dubai, between business clad Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah Jane infested Jumeirah road, one couldn’t want for more!

Anyway I’ll leave you guys with a picture of us in our very first apartment! Home Sweet Home!
